Adjix is a new way to monetize combining URL shorting with advertising. Here’s how it works: people called “linkers” shorten URLs and then give those to other people, publish them, etc… The audience in mind is Twitter users where shorter is better.
When a Adjix URL is loaded, the destination URL is placed into a bottom frame which takes up most of the browser window, but the top is reserved for Adjix PPC and PPM advertisers.
This is where domains come in… you can use your own domain name to load the Adjix frames by setting a CNAME pointing to Adjix servers. Then, the links you publish end with the same Adjix random string of characters, but start with YOUR domain.
Here’s an example: say I wanted to shorten the URL:
http://baghound.com/buy/designer+hand+bags
When I shrink it with Adjix, I get this:
Now I can use that short URL in tweets, or anywhere else a smaller URL is required (typically places where links are allowed, but not anchor text, like Twitter)
If I setup my domains though, I can instead send this:
Which is shorter… you get the idea ![]()

I’ve noticed shorter is better, but it gets harder and harder to find good 5 letter domains or less.
I chose http://unitedstatesvicepresident.com because I don’t plan to sell it and it does mean something. Every time I find a good 5 letter domain everyone is grabbing it also.
